[Super Typhoon 'Champi', is it coming to Korea?] Typhoon Champi, the 30th typhoon, is said to grow to the highest category. However, it is said that the predicted paths differ by country. As of dawn on the 20th, it was about 900km west-northwest of Guam, with a central pressure of 920hPa and a maximum wind speed of 53m/s. The Meteorological Administration predicted it would grow to 'Strength 5 (Super Strong)' by this afternoon and be at its strongest at dawn on the 21st. The KMA path brushes northern Taiwan around the 24th and does not make landfall on the Korean Peninsula by the 25th. However, the US JTWC predicted it could turn north in front of Taiwan and head between the Korean Peninsula and Japan. Taiwan's meteorological authorities also predicted it would move north up to the East China Sea south of Jeju. The KMA also stated that the path after the 25th has high uncertainty. We definitely need to check the forecast updates throughout this week. They say temperatures will drop by nearly 10 degrees in a single day on Thursday, I hope a typhoon and a cold wave aren't overlapping, right?
